Fantastic Voyage
From this activity what did you learn?
The main thing that I learned from this activity is reading, I learned about different elements that makes a novel. I also learned new vocabulary that can help me with my writing in the future. I was able to learned a little bit about grammar too.
History and Geography
The book "Fantastic Voyage" provide the reader with a little bit of the history background. The story happened during the cold war in the WWII. Here in the book the character would refer their enemy as "the other side". The other side means Russia while their side is America. There are also word like "kamikaze" found in the book. Kamikaze is a Japanese aircraft loaded with explosives with the purpose of landing on an enemy target, by suicidal craft.
Science?
There is no doubt that science is the main topic here. The book brings up a lot of scientific theories one include the brownian effect. This book also discuss the structure of our body especially the veins and our cells. Technologies and tools are explained throughout the story, as we all know the development of technology plays a big role in the scientific world.
Writing and Storytelling?
Because I got to learn new vocabulary, those vocabulary can help me write better writing pieces in the future. While, in storytelling the activity help me write better stories so that it will appeal more to the audience. Specifically, I learned about how essential character development is to a story, and to the audience.

What did you learn about social problem solving?
Social problem solving is something that adds up the social skill. Grant and Duval both came from a different social background. At first, they figured out ways to work together, even if one of them, Duval turns to be a traitor in the end. With their different thinking skills, they are still able to solve things together. Which by means, teamwork are one of the ways to solve social problem solving. Even if they both have different opinions, they both just had to accept it by a specific communication skills.
What did you learn about meta-level thinking?
I learn about procedures. I learned whatever problem you are facing or whatever you are doing require steps and procedure. It is important to think ahead of time, so you know what you are doing and not wasting time. In the story the team has to go to different steps (paths) to finally get to Benes brain. There are safeguards so it will minimize injury when accidents happen. This actually happens in the story, one of the character fell because not wearing his safety gear.
Example of good and bad relationship?
Good leadership can are seen through Grant, he stays calm and content despite having going through a lot of conflict. He knows what to do, his calm attitude also impact the other members preventing them from panicking. Grant always keeps an eye to all parts of the submarine, ensuring that all is going well. But there are times where Grant fail to communicate to a certain member, Duval. From the start Grant never really liked him and being in the same team with him just makes things worse. Grant is suspicious that Duval is the traitor, and he kept his eye on him all the time, but at times Grant are pushy towards him and Duval who is a temperament surgeon did not take Grant "complain" to well because of that they had a fight. This is bad leadership why? well firs because he fail to communicate, and second he's too biased to the other members he blamed Duval for being a traitor etc. Without having a fixed evidence.
What did you learn about being able to adapt to situation?
Adapting to situations is like maintaining homeostasis, according to the situations certain changes need to be made. In the story the water tanks of the submarine broke and changes are made to fix it, some of the members even had to went out to fix it. When the team made it to the brain they can't get out and decided to change their paths going out from the eye instead their original plan. Here I also learnt that it is important to have a plan B / backup plans.
Do you think 'leadership' can come from the bottom as well as 'top' of an organization?
No, I don't think that leadership can come from the bottom of an organization. Being a leader from the bottom automatically makes you on top of the organization. However. I hate calling leader having to come from the 'top' because it implies that 'leadership' is above everyone else, which is what leadership not about. You become on 'top' because you have people "below" who you work with and support you, and you have to support them.
